Traveling with Baby

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and for new mommies who have family spread across the United States this means it is travel season. You may be used to flying solo in the skies or taking a music-blaring road trip to your Thanksgiving destination before your little miracle, but what has to change now that you have an additional passenger? We have listed a few tips and tricks below.

Arrive Early. Whether you are having Thanksgiving at your mom’s house a couple hours away or flying to visit a relative in a different state, get there early. If you are driving, plan for traffic and pit stops and be sure to give yourself (and your baby) enough time to adjust and settle in once you get to your destination. If you are flying, remember to check in early so you can make your flight without the rush!

Bring Snacks, Drinks and Diapers. You never want to be caught without these essentials in a car or on a flight with a baby that is hungry, thirsty or needs a diaper change. Packing these essentials will have your baby eating and drinking according to their usual diet, and save the other passengers from what might have been a noisy (and smelly) trip.

Pack according to your destination. If you are going somewhere cold be sure your little one has everything they need (jackets, socks, hats, gloves, chapstick, etc.). The same goes for you lucky ones who are spending the Holidays somewhere warm—bring sunscreen, hats and water shoes!

Have fun. Trips almost never go according to plan, especially with a baby in tow. Remember to take everything in stride and know that the Holidays are meant to be happy times that you spend with family!

We hope these tips help you and your little one survive the Holiday travels and you have a lovely trip! Do you have any tips, tricks or ideas that can help traveling with a little one easier? Comment below!
